Welcome, I am Matt, a therapist, Marine Corps combat vet, husband and father.

I work primarily with first responders, active duty military, veterans and teens. I am trained in a number of types of therapy: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT - it's the CBT version for trauma), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Family Systems. I also conduct research on burnout for first responders, and how AI might be used in therapy.

When you meet with me for a first session there are two things you're going to need to decide on: do you feel like you can trust me - I believe I am a trust-worthy person, but you have to be willing to trust me; and does my style work for you. Both of those things have to line up for therapy to move forward.

The goal of therapy is to help you move as quickly as possible through pain and difficult times to get you back to yourself and back to your life. How quickly that happens really depends on what you are going through, and how much you're able to face it - I am not going to push you beyond what you want to do in therapy, I am also going to ask you how much of your pain you're willing to walk into.

Please reach out, I'd love to get to meet you and begin to hear some of your story, and help you alleviate some of the struggle.
